Nine American Eagle aircraft were grounded today at Chicago O'Hare after they were damaged by a TSA inspector according to ABC News. TSA spokesperson Elio Montenegro confirmed the incident occurred when an inspector was conducting an overnight security check and decided to see if he could climb on top of parked aircraft in order to gain entry into them. Unfortunately, instead of using a ladder, the TSA inspector decided to use the aircraft's sensitive exterior probes to climb up on top. Specifically the TAT (Total Air Temperature) probe was selected as a foot hold. No word on what type of aircraft were damaged but American Eagle pilots were obviously furious with this act and one was quick to post on an online forum, "The brilliant employees used an instrument located just below the cockpit window that is critical to the operation of the onboard computers." Another commented the TSA agents, "are now doing things to our aircraft that may put our lives, and the lives of our passengers at risk." Forty Eagle flights were delayed today as a result of the inspector's action. Montenegro assured that the "inspector was following routine procedure for securing the aircraft that were on the tarmac." Interesting tactic by the TSA as I guess a plane that can't fly is the most secure plane.

Yep. Things just get dumber all the time here in 'merica. Welcome to the decline & fall.
"inspector was following routine procedure"
Why am I skeptical of that claim?
And HSA wants to give these clowns authority over GA...

Welcome to Merika.
I notice that the article doesn't mention whether the idiot was fired. It would be quite depressing if he's still on the taxpayers' payroll.

What would you expect from an unqualified group of people with virtually unlimited authority on the airports. They would act as if they know everything and they think they are cannot held accountable. What a bunch of idiots.
obviously they aren't held accountable since the TSA officially defended his actions.
LOL, what a complete MORON. And its idiots like this that are in charge of airport security? LOL, whata joke.

Why is this not at all surprising?
These people are unbelievable.
One of them was bullying some passengers
in line at SFO and I just couldnt take it,
so when he came past me with his surly
orders I said loudly, in my best Marine voice,
"SIR, YES SIR! RIGHT AWAY SIR! THANK YOU SIR!"
and the little idiot actually nodded his head in
approval at me! Can you believe it?!
He was such an imbecile, he didnt realize he
was being mocked! Jesus, were in so much trouble...
TSA is a joke in your town!!
Typical US Government process:
1. Define an imaginary problem.
2. Assign irrational methods of blowing the imaginary problem out of proportion. Consider profit potential and fear factors. Assign higher value to methods that produce profit for certain families and greater fear in the hearts of citizens.
3. Assign contracts to idiot squad companies at multiples of standard pay scales.
4. Allow companies to hire derelicks, a**holes, jerk-offs, and sh*theads.
5. Maintain no oversight of idiot squad company processes or actions.
6. Use familiy profits to payoff/buy media concerns, hit men, travel the world, buy extra houses, cars, mistresses.
7. GOTO Step 1
TSA's doin a heckuva job
TSA... "We're The new Brown Shirts"
Enough is Enough!
Time to squelch the TSA and their Anti-American practices. This "Agency" poses a real threat to the people of the United States because they are only targeting the people of the United States, yet they allow thousands upon thousands of illegal entrants to swarm across our borders daily via Mexico.
Do you really feel safer after 9/11? Do you? I certainly don't.
The Federal Government views it's citizens as terrorists, which is why you are subjected to these procedures.
Tired of it? Send a letter to the FBI's Terrorist Screening Center director Donna A. Bucella, tell this tired old fat broad what you think.
Your exactly right, Enough is Enough!!! The United States Government views USA citizens as terriorists & if we don't all get together things are gonna get worse!! We must take back our government!! We can't loose our Freedoms our Forefathers fought so hard to give us!! Go to infowars.com!!!
This is why we need Obama in office!
Obama in office?????
he is just another version of the same clowns in office now.
bought and paid for.
there is no choice, tweedle dee and tweedle dummer.
TSA agents are just the beginning of the USA turning into a police state.
Ever wonder how that TSA agent got his job? He had to pass this test:
TSA Employment Exam With Answer Key
(This was intended as a joke, but after this story, I'm not so sure...)
You call that following routine aircraft inspection procedures? Looks more to me like a buffoon procedure. I sure hope this guy was fired, if not the safety of flying will remain at a critical low.

I work at a big airport and the new TSA thing they do is if they catch you with no badge or you don't catch them walking around with no badge (they test us all the time) they fine you, the person, not the company you work for. I think this moron should be treated the same way.
The TSA is an embarassment and I feel violated that these people are paid with my hard earned money.
I overheard a radio conversation as I deplaned at SRQ about doughnuts and how someone "really wanted them" Why scrape the bottom of the barrel and hire the otherwise unemployable.....DHS can do do better than this right?.......one wonders
Obviously American Eagle is at fault for not painting "No Step" near the thing that probably looks like a sensitive part of the avionics that someone shouldn't be climbing on.
Don't get all the scorn upon the poor ol' TSA heaped here.
Why pick particularly on its idiots?
After all, put 'em in a dark place with any given group of the often fifth and sixth generation permanently parasitical people who pad its payrolls and pick up the feral gummint's dole -- the several hundred congresscritters, for example or the self-annointed, self-appointed and self-perpetuating bastard offspring of the Soviet agent Alger Hiss et al descended Foggy Bottom brahmanas and its foreigner servicing simps -- and I doubt you'd tell any one of them from any other.

The TSA is blackmailing thousands of Citizens, everyday, into "Voluntarily Abandoning Property" (VAP)
liquid, gel, and aerosol, worth millions of dollars.
The alledged reason is these MIGHT be dangerous, toxic, explosive, poisonous, chemicals.
Do you know what is happening to this treasure?
The TSA geniuses are taking these "dangerous, toxic, explosive, poisonous, chemicals" and,
tossing them into big bins, sorted by THE LABEL, and , UNTESTED or CRITICALLY EXAMINED,
storing them.
Gee. What if I was a "terrorist" (are there any?) and made a bomb that LOOKED like a common flammable item.
Yes, you are right. The TSA morons would acommadatingly take it from me,
put it in their pile of OTHER FLAMMABLES, and store it until MY bomb ignited the items it is stored with.
The TSA would have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA who GAVE them the bomb, because they don't record such things.
TSA "officers" around the country are drinking "VAP" pop, water, etc.
(and accepting "gifts" of food, drink)
GEE, what if someone injected some hallucinagens? well ..... how could we tell if THAT happened?........
Geez, who the heck climbs a pitot tube on an airplane?
A 10 year old knows better than to mess with an airplanes exterior instruments.
Wow scary indeed.
George Orwell was right, he just had the year wrong (1984)!
It goes back to something said in 1776 - giving up freedom for security leaves us neither free or secure. Tolerating the TSA (and other government abuses) is making us less free and less secure. I'd rather deal with the risk of terrorists on my plane, than deal with the abuses of the TSA - and the excuses being made for their behavior.
Like most other agencies, they have a 'book' written so as to be able to justify anything.
TSA= Thousand Standing Around
TSA stands for Terribly Stupid AGency in my book. I am a million miler, and you wouldn't believe some of the stunts I have seen them pull. Example - giving a 4'10" 80 year old grandmother who could barely speak english a hard time! Example - giving a very young girl in flipflops a hard time! Example - when I dared to politely contradict a TSA person (I was right, of course), he pulled me aside even tho I did not set off the alarm (just like I predicted) and decided to see how long he could drag out the pat down search. The supervisor refused to give me the employee's number. The worst decision Bush ever made!!!!!
I am in Naval Aviation Maintenance and we have what is called a "Safety Phase I" walkaround to get personnel familiar with the aircraft and it's (vulnerable) parts to avoid such a situation. Maybe TSA could get on board with that?
This is why I haven't boarded a commercial airliner since 11 Sept 2001... The fact that we can't find out if this moron was fired makes it even more unsafe to be on an aircraft left unattended in their protection. Just another knee-jerk reaction that has kicked America in her butt...
WOB said..
To heck with this poor inept inspector, he was supposed to be mowing the grass. Our attention should be on, "the supervisor who said 'the inspector was following routine procedure.'" This tells volumes about the TSA. All the procedures need to be reviewed, right after the supervisor is fired. "Hey Inspector, we have a vacancy, if you can mow grass."
