British aircraft propulsion manufacturer, Rolls Royce, announced at EAA AirVenture today that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with US-based General Aviation aircraft manufacturer, Mooney, to discuss future applications for its new RR500 turboprop engine. This development could finally bring Mooney, known for their high performance aircraft, into the turbine single market. Rolls sees their 350 to 450 shp RR500 as an ideal fit for the "the light, fixed-wing general aviation segment." The new micro turboprop even has Harrison Ford a glow.
